Few months back, Evelina the bride had called me and booked my schedule for her wedding at Kuala Lumpur. 15th November 2008 was the “W” day and I’d wake up in the morning 5.30am and rush to KL Concord Hotel before her make-up artist had arrived.

Nevertheless, taking photos from morning till afternoon, I only had 3 hours of rest before heading back to dinner or the evening sessions! I really had great experience this time since I had well-prepared with my new Dem diffuser. No worry with my lighting issue or problems with my battery for flash. And I still remember the last photo taken @ 11:45pm!
Overall, I’m quite satisfied with my results; one more thing that amazed of, that I’d broke my own record – 1050 of pictures taken in a day!

Last week I was invited to the year end graduation concert for Tadika Tunas Riang, it was a half day photography session and I was quite enjoyed with entire setting and allowed me took some nice photos.
Overall, in just 4 hours I had managed to snap more than 400 shots; it’s tiring when I have to squat down and stand up and bend again! Next day, I could felt the pain of my leg’s muscle.

Anyway, for all the hard work, it was total worth of efforts to catch the moment of innocence. There were about 150 -200 students and we all squeezed inside a 900 sq foot markup room; and noise of kids’ laughing, crying and teacher was scolding, it was like a war zone. However, I was sweat but nuthing to stop me kept searching for the “face” that bring you “words”!
It reminded me when I was in kinder performance, so far that’s only 1 or 2 photos I had while I was dancing on the stage. How about the close up and the moment before going to stage? Personally I felt this moment behind the stage was absolutely difference.

Last Sunday was last day of school holiday and my church had organized a “Kids Fun Land” for the children around 3-10 years old.
It was fun to see them having fun before they going back to school, as usual our programs included some bible story, dancing and games. And we did a mini Olympic for kids too, just enjoyed seeing them having so much fun.

“Professor Blur-blur”?

Time to move your body with our Bee-man!

A little science experiments to amaze the kids.

Wife was giving Bible Story to the children. Plus our professional actor who were acting seriously on the stage to make all the children understand more about the story!

This was the moment for them - games. They love it so much.

However, I didn’t manage to photograph much. Still learn to steady my arm and hand while taking with my Prime 135mm. Some of the shots were not that great, shake and blur.
I’d been to the Malaysia International Fireworks Competition in year 2007, and didn’t manage to take any photographs because I have not well prepared.
This time I know what to do and get myself serious. I bought the remote release from Shashinki and it cost me RM59.50; yet it took less than 2 days delivery.
It was China team’s performance on Saturday (16 Aug 2008). Personally we recognized China was the main distributor of fireworks and supply to most countries in the world. However, I assume they will perform to the extreme and gave the best setup for this year’s competition.
We have our dinner at my mother-in-law’s house (Sri Kembangan). From her house it took less than 15 minutes to reach Perdana Lake View, Cyberjaya. By the time we reached the lake side around 9pm, there were many cars on the road side. And this were only 60% of the crowd, believe there’ll be more crowd later.
Tripod was ready. Remote release was ready. Everything was ready but we just wasted our time waiting.
After an hour, finally first fire blazed into the dark sky. Once I took the first 5 shots (my aperture at F18 with 5-8 sec), quickly preview them and seem like all shots didn’t turn out right. Although manual mode and to experiment with shooting in low light at longer exposures. It’s not easy as I though.

On the other hand, I just keep changing the aperture and speed.. once it was F15…then F13; still not perfect, so decided to make it F10 with 2-3 sec. Yes, finally I got it.

Total time of Chinese’s performance was around 25-30 minutes. It was amazing. But another nightmare was the massive jam when heading back home.
Overall, I was happy about my remote release, it’s a MUST when you are taking fireworks photography. The only way of taking shots without touching your camera is to use remote release and to set your own timer. This can work but you really need to be able to anticipate shots well.

To work on an eInvite for SAA eNewsletter. And launching date is quite close and we need to send out the mailing as soon as possible; nevertheless, was asked to have it with Asian Faces. In the other hand, who will be the best candidate from TMS’s staff (of coz with 0 cost).
With a glance, I need someone who is tall, fair and smart looking. Obviously, George and Huey Ling have them all.
Taking this opportunity to showcase my skills and ideas. Using my 30D and speedlite 430EX without any proper backdrop.

After process the RAW in my CS2 and some simple outline tracing jobs. Here’s go the results…

Last month, Jack requested some of the managers to help up his department’s Team Building or so called “Wah Lau Eh” Makan Trip to Port Dickson.

Yes, John is a Marshall.
Joe and I have been selected to be the Marshal who taking care for the first station’s challenges, I was told to be the photographer and help to organize the first challenge - Model walks.
Through my experiences in games, I thought of giving these teams some funs and some “stress”. Not just a game, but overall to test their body and mind.

However, Joe was busy with his sales and I have to work alone before the challenge day, already got some ideas in mind. Firstly, we blew some balloons and put few clues into the balloons and some are false, yes, idea to make them run 100m away and back to base under the HOT sun. Haha!

I think overall is fun, each team has to follow the picture and post exactly as possible which the clue they had picked, and one of them has to be their photographer. Of coz I was ordered to photograph too or video down what they suppose to do.

After the challenge, we were all gathered at Rechado Lighthouse, there was an excellent sunset…

31 May 2008, it was a great Saturday, there was 2 big event happening in KLCC, one of it was the biggest book fair held in KLCC convention center (Kuala Lumpur Book Fair @ BookFest). And one of it which I had planned weeks ago - Canon World of EOS that located right middle of KLCC shopping center.

Yes, I went there just for the “EOS Grand Photography Contest, Model runaway show and Photo Contest.”
Again, to gain some experiences for stage photography, not only that, I went to the Canon Service Counter for FREE services, which I was surprised they have clean your gear in details, lens, filter etc. And I’m very happy coz I have not sent my gears for service since years.
Waited for half an hour, Canon model Runway was almost begin after my gears have been “Cleaned”!! By the time I reached the stage, Gosh! There’s about 200 of experts who have been standing there and taken all the nice spots. I’ve seen some even standing on 2nd floor… hmmm… Lucky I have my Prime 135mm which i could zoomed from far. Somehow I managed to squeeze into the crowd about 15m away from the pretty models.

However, still managed to grab some nice angle.

I have taken more than 160 shots, no regret; Coz I’m happy and believe some of the shots are greats. After filtering those images, and I have decided to pick one of the most “creative” one. Or I would said I’m lucky somehow the lighting splash through her eyes.

Finally, printed and submitted to Canon. Not so much to win the prizes… but it’s fun and experiences.
