George my good buddy cum ex-colleague has decided to leave the company that had been worked more than 11 years, and begin his new entrepreneur life. When come to set up a new company, few things bother him much was cash flow; when setting up Innova8tif solution (www.innov8tif.com), he said a lot of things were new ‘Set-up’, no budget for marketing even a proper corporate logo.

But, after few months later, finally found their proper office lot, eventually it need a signboard, this was the reason has ‘triggered’ George and partner Tien Soon to redesign their 80’s looks corporate logo.

So, I came out with few options for them. Started to simplify the logo based on few elements like the number ‘8’, or innovative – ‘I’. Try to play along that and also pick the font type – ‘Familian’ and ‘Harlow’.

Not to my surprise, they had chosen the GOLD 8 as their first priority. Well, number 8 was believed to have auspicious meanings, in regional dialects the words for “eight” and “fortune” are also similar, e.g. Cantonese “baat” and “faat“. But I told them it doesn’t really fit to what your core business as a technology or software house.

However, through my friendly advice, which 3rd logo looked more promising. Based on that and created few more options for colors. It still remained the gold (Fortune) and the cross-overlapping with 3-dimension shape, which a graphical representation of the company and products.

Check out the previous logo and how the new logo looks now.

Above was the business card design for Innov8tif Solution Sdn Bhd.
However, I wish this new logo bring them good luck, prosperity and success!

Joget Workflow (www.joget.org) has been around for a year plus. Joget’s team has been putting a lot of efforts to identify the product and keep it on the right track.

Joget first overseas events and participate this exhibition in 2011 will be in US, California, Demo spring 2011 (www.demo.com) and we foresee there will be a lot of VC and good opportunity.

Looking at the old leaflet printed last year, the message was ‘Automate your processes’ or ‘Do more, code less’. All information was cluttered ‘well’ together include process problems and solution to automate your process. Somehow, the leaflet suits more for partners, programmers or IT representatives.

After few discussions, team wanted to have something easy to hand out. I suggested make it into postcard size. Challenge was less word with more meaning on the new design! By shorten the message from previous version, summarize the message much more clearly and give Venture Capital easy to understand who and what Joget Workflow is.
Firstly, taglines were another issue to solve it out.

“Do more, Code less. Smart simplicity for all your business processes.”

‘Smart’ + ‘simplicity’… is that mean the user has to be smart to use this product? Once again, there were duplicating message; ‘code less’ = ‘simplicity’, both were same meaning anyway.

Why don’t make use of verb – Simplify instead of simplicity.

Simplify your business processes“; then again, Joget workflow that the word process is equivalent to workflow as well. Finally, we decided to omit the word ‘processes‘.

Found a nice illustration from iStock (www.istock.com) which cost around $15.  And it just fitted nicely with the new tagline.

At the back of the card, we decided not to be long-winded, straight to the points with ‘What- Why-How’. From experiences, too much word might not really help much, it might confuse the audience!

A office with no partition in between, and a large wall approximate 80 feet from front till back. What to do with that piece of large wall?

It was panted in dark gray and apple green on the other site of the wall. At least something to cheer up the environment with some cool design – wall deco or wall sticker which was the easier way.

Estimate the size around 6 feet height and 13 feet wide, after a though and make the full design using illustrator vector, not a single images.

After the artwork has completed, I sent it to my favorite supplier Art-co International who did all the instant printing. Reasonable price and took them 4 working days to print and stick.

Here how it looks like on the office wall.

My friend has planned to be main distributor for this needle-free injection from Canada (MiT) (www.mitneedlefree.com) in  Malaysia market. It was not a new technology but it was not common used in Asian market. The jet injection system provides less pain and delivered accurate in depth of human tissue and surface.

Alleron (www.alleron-my.com) is a new set-up company, and main core business for the needle-free product. Their target audiences are mainly beauty centre and clinical. Well, this equipment was considering new trend and I was excited to work on the booklet design; in addition, it also requested my input include of product photograph.

A success of promoting a product, we would have models to accomplish it. Since it was low budget project, the only thing I can think of was to find some suitable candidates for the shots, end up I managed to found one young model from my church.

After few selections and make the final choice of it. The picture was nicely position in booklet.

I have designed few concepts and using different patterns for the cover, due to the jet system in white colours and to contrast it, the background has to be dark and strong colors.

Here’s the final piece of booklet printed in matt lamination.

One of the easy and economical way to promote new brand especially brand that related to Technology. Wearing or giving out T-shirt compare to other collateral items such as notepad. Well, personally T-shirt is most efficiency as marketing collateral.

Team has decided to try out our first Tee shirt design; well, it almost 4-5 years I’d never done any graphics or concepts for Tee shirt design.

Visual Design for T-shirt

2 weeks time to prepare booth design for Joget  roadshow – Open Source Workflow at MyGosscon 2009.

I was given with typical booth size of 3 meter width x 3 meter depth. To save cost and time; planned it and make the idea as “simple” as possible so that it could stand out from the rest; although size of the booth was pretty small, as long the message has to be BOLD.

Few items were in my mind, one huge backdrop and one bunting; eventually there were planned to set up 2 LCD panels as product demo and flash animation.

A quick idea of how the booth designs suppose to look like.

However, asking around my supplier to get some contacts. I have managed to found a company called Artco International (http://www.artco-international.com/) who gave reasonable price.

Based with default sizes and started with some visuals.

Few options for bunting designs – KPIs enabling…

Finally, back drop panel using pop up series and final roll-up bunting design.

A culture for an IT environment, encourage not to use any brochure – so called solution with paperless signage. All materials and information has stored in CD-Rom. Well, total cost of the CD is only less than RM2.00.

On the roadshow, Joget booth with the actual display items. More picture from flickr.

Marketing requested to design a banner for exhibition purpose, the content of the banner that include of all range of solutions provide by TMS.

The banner measurements are 31″ (W) x 78″ (H). It’s about a person height. And text was quite straight forward. Although it was plenty of space to insert pictures or images but I decided not to use any of it.

Somehow, it was pretty fun to see how to form the typo with elements, ‘Typography is an art’. Well, I’d done some research like how the angle and rather keeping the same horizontal path.

Instead of, I used a lot of elements such as stripes, rounds or curves to form together with typo.

Eventually, we go for something clean and neat…
