Joget Workflow (www.joget.org) has been around for a year plus. Joget’s team has been putting a lot of efforts to identify the product and keep it on the right track.
Joget first overseas events and participate this exhibition in 2011 will be in US, California, Demo spring 2011 (www.demo.com) and we foresee there will be a lot of VC and good opportunity.
Looking at the old leaflet printed last year, the message was ‘Automate your processes’ or ‘Do more, code less’. All information was cluttered ‘well’ together include process problems and solution to automate your process. Somehow, the leaflet suits more for partners, programmers or IT representatives.

After few discussions, team wanted to have something easy to hand out. I suggested make it into postcard size. Challenge was less word with more meaning on the new design! By shorten the message from previous version, summarize the message much more clearly and give Venture Capital easy to understand who and what Joget Workflow is.
Firstly, taglines were another issue to solve it out.
“Do more, Code less. Smart simplicity for all your business processes.”

‘Smart’ + ‘simplicity’… is that mean the user has to be smart to use this product? Once again, there were duplicating message; ‘code less’ = ‘simplicity’, both were same meaning anyway.
Why don’t make use of verb – Simplify instead of simplicity.
“Simplify your business processes“; then again, Joget workflow that the word process is equivalent to workflow as well. Finally, we decided to omit the word ‘processes‘.

Found a nice illustration from iStock (www.istock.com) which cost around $15. And it just fitted nicely with the new tagline.
At the back of the card, we decided not to be long-winded, straight to the points with ‘What- Why-How’. From experiences, too much word might not really help much, it might confuse the audience!

Almost months or years never have time to attend seminars, just don’t have time to leave my work place for sake of datelines and never ending tasks.
Lately, Open Dynamics has approached with MATRADE (Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation) for business opportunities, with their helps to promote Joget the Malaysia made software. However, MRM (Majlis Rekabentuk Malaysia) an association funded by Government who organised this event together with MATRADE.

It was a 2 days seminar and workshop, many of the participants were from product design and industrial design, I think I was a rare one in this conference room. Well, there’ were 6 speakers from Korea. First day of Seminar has covered history of Korean Industry and the change of design, importantly Korean government has given a lot of supports to their local industrial and economy development, and somehow design has taken an extraordinary improvement and important role for Korean economy.
For example, famous brand such as Samsung, LG or car industry Hyundai etc have penetrated into global market with a major helps from Korean government. In other word, brand community was also funded by Korean government.
And, we were all fully agreed that Design was a key success in many differences industry. The ‘Magic’ is in the product but without good design, it will never reach the customer shore. Well, few important keynotes taken were ‘Function, Integrity, safety, universality, environment, continuity and identity’. They shared in terms of functionality, sustainable is key point to Glocal (Global to local, or local to global).
DesignSeoul (Aireys-collaborative-integrated-sustainable), to know more about Korean design, log on to Globalization of Korea Design (global.designdb.com) recently I realize Korea have a lot of great designers.
One of the interesting topics – “Ubiquitous! Digital Design” has caught my attention and the speaker was the CEO of Pentabreed (www.pentabreed.com) – Terry Park. He shared about Korean Mobile/communication tools, digital design and technology, and he did mention the growth of Internet has keep Korea in a fast mode and momentum that how their industry break through globalization whereby the change of product’s awareness.

Me and Terry Park, although he can’t speak well, but there was no barrier when designer meeting another great designer. Haha….
Here were the details of the speakers, and they are knowledgeable in design industry.

After upgraded my camera body 5D Mark II, didn’t expect to received any new business for wedding at that moment. Fortunately through my church’s member who has introduced Jimmy. A new groom who was getting married on 26 Dec 2010.
With my full frame body and good quality in high ISO with less noise. On wedding day I’d felt much more confidence when holding this incredible machine.
Well, during the whole shooting it was fun and great time with these new couples. Once again, thanks to Jimmy and Leng Shin given me this opportunity.

Jimmy Lim, the groom and lovely husband.

The beautiful bride – Leng Shin.

Come across this KLIMS – Kuala Lumpur International Motor shows (www.klims10.com) had over since December, and it was one of
the biggest event I’d been to in year 2010.
Thanks to Joe’s wife who are the main organizer (www.interexpo-my.com) for this event and managed to get a Press Pass. Not a free entrance tickets but a pass allowed you to zig-zag in the events which pretty fun and allow me to flexible moving around.

Well, KLIMS not just about cars (static model) but live models. Honestly, the last show I went was year 2006 and it was bigger and more things to see. I had predicted what is going on for this year and most of the cars were not my main target.
Bumble bee?

How about Bumble bee’s model? Ha, definitely the live models were much more interesting than the still models.

Obviously my aim for this trip, not for the cars… it’s all about the beautiful and elegant models that I wanted to captured for.

Joget (www.joget.org) has operated smoothly and it has its own plug-ins and packages to be downloaded, some of them were free and some requested small tokens. To reduce time to redesign a new shopping cart or developing new module, team has decided to use Open source platform for E-commerce.
There are many E-commerce platforms to be used for FREE, but Magento (www.magentocommerce.com) was suggested by Tiensoon our technical Jogetian. Since it was recommended and familiar with it, but it was first time for me to understand a totally new E-commerce solution within 2-3 days.
Firstly, found a few free Magento templates. And redesign and try changing colors.

Unfortunately, the coding and some other elements were not fit into the version we have downloaded. I have no choice and using the original template and modified the CSS and images.
Well, surprisingly it turned out quite good with the Joget color schemes. Took around 7-8 days and Joget Marketplace has officially launched.
I had blogged once for logo trends and that was 2008 ago. And what is new trend for year 2010?

Box Up – Box it up with typo

Burst - Don’t look good when scale down

Cubist - One of my favorite and idealistic

Dust - Too 80′s!

Festoon - I’m not so fancy about this effect.

Ghosts - Blur with imagination?

Hexahedron - or Octahedron?

Parts -Cool idea but limited

Shift - Make sure it has to be printed in colors

Spores - It similar to cubist
Batang Trip has become a yearly gathering for TMS and ex-TMSian but it was only available for guys (Batang means “stick“). This year we choose somewhere more interesting where this place named Sungai Lembing, it located opposite of Kuantan’s town; approximately another 30 mins once exit the toll.

Well, 3 interesting attractions we were looking for, “The Fall”, “The View” and “The Food”.
But to reach those 2 places, we had to scarify our sleeps and wake up before sunrise; took a lot of time and energy to reach to the point.
The Fall
Took 75mins on the off road truck. 1 hour of jungle hiking.

Well, I called it “Heavenly Fall”, it was the most beautiful and amazing waterfall I’d never seen in my life. Check out more photos from creadaq.com
The View

Another amazing attraction called Bukit Lembing or Panorama Hill. Above the hill, you will amaze with the view of a small little town below the cloud.
The Food

You got to taste the ordinary food from Sungai Lembing. Tomato source fried with local hand-made noodle.
A trip worth for money, it cost less than MYR200 for each person. Stayed at the guest house with 6 rooms only cost MYR700 for 2 nights. In small town, food is much cheaper. I think all the guys were satisfying with the entire trip.

A office with no partition in between, and a large wall approximate 80 feet from front till back. What to do with that piece of large wall?
It was panted in dark gray and apple green on the other site of the wall. At least something to cheer up the environment with some cool design – wall deco or wall sticker which was the easier way.
Estimate the size around 6 feet height and 13 feet wide, after a though and make the full design using illustrator vector, not a single images.
After the artwork has completed, I sent it to my favorite supplier Art-co International who did all the instant printing. Reasonable price and took them 4 working days to print and stick.
Here how it looks like on the office wall.

My friend has planned to be main distributor for this needle-free injection from Canada (MiT) (www.mitneedlefree.com) in Malaysia market. It was not a new technology but it was not common used in Asian market. The jet injection system provides less pain and delivered accurate in depth of human tissue and surface.
Alleron (www.alleron-my.com) is a new set-up company, and main core business for the needle-free product. Their target audiences are mainly beauty centre and clinical. Well, this equipment was considering new trend and I was excited to work on the booklet design; in addition, it also requested my input include of product photograph.

A success of promoting a product, we would have models to accomplish it. Since it was low budget project, the only thing I can think of was to find some suitable candidates for the shots, end up I managed to found one young model from my church.

After few selections and make the final choice of it. The picture was nicely position in booklet.

I have designed few concepts and using different patterns for the cover, due to the jet system in white colours and to contrast it, the background has to be dark and strong colors.

Here’s the final piece of booklet printed in matt lamination.

Few months back, my church was organizing an activity for the children before their school holidays. And the title called it “I Have a Dream”, therefore, everyone has planned and had their own roles for just 3 hours included having games with them, present some short drama for the kids.
And I, being a photographer was also part of the enjoyment through the whole things. Click below to see the whole process of these Kids Fun Land.
